Jody Marshall Dance Company (Singapore) opened its doors in 2010, offering the same expertise, professionalism, and high standards to Singapore’s budding young dancers.
Our welcoming, supportive, and close-knit dance family supports students through annual examinations and competitions, along with our yearly JMDC recital and many charity productions – it’s our way of giving back!

DANCE GENRE
Modern Jazz
Jazz deviates from the traditional ballet style by combining precise ballet routines with free flair, which is performed to a variety of pop music. Jazz gives dancers greater opportunity to diversify into lyrical or even subtle funk styles while also providing dancers with long lines and classy height. Jazz also emphasizes strength and mobility to enhance the dancers’ expressiveness.

DANCE GENRE
Contemporary/
Lyrical
Contemporary is a free-form genre derived from the mixing and adaption of several styles such as ballet, lyrical, jazz, and so on. Classes will cover a broad range of dance vocabulary and will investigate many elements of dancing through forming emotive gestures and experiences in various planes of space. Students should expect to be pushed physically and introduced to the flexibility of artistic expression from many angles.

DANCE GENRE
Classical Ballet
Students would be able to acquire and master the ballet skills essential not only for the growth of professional dancing, but also for overall physicality and synchronization of the body, under the supervision of our committed teachers. Students will also gain physical and cognitive skills that will assist them in their scholastic learning and social interactions.

At JMDC Singapore we offer classes six days a week, encompassing various forms and styles. We offer classes for all dancers, competitive, examination or just for fun! We cover everything from jazz to contemporary, classical ballet, tap and musical theatre!

Community
JMDC is like a family. We watch out for each other and help one another grow. Over the last 10 years, we've seen our girls grow in both soft skills (independence, confidence, teamwork, leadership) and technically as a dancer.
There are lots of opportunities for development, which we could tailor based on our girls' strengths such as various classes, workshops, overseas performances, local and international dance competitions, etc. My girls are always excited to learn from both local and international teachers and professional choreographers.

The love, dedication and support provided for my daughter by all the professional dance teachers at JMDC are amazing and wonderful. The teachers go above and beyond to make sure each dancer enjoys their learning experience. Everyone at JMDC celebrates each child’s success as though it was their own, no matter how big or small.
It has been wonderful seeing my daughter developing the foundation of her technique and dance ability as well as many other skills that will continue to be valuable in her life. A big thank you to Ms Josephine and all the wonderful teachers in JDMC for the endless opportunities my daughter has received and for believing in her as well.

Opportunities
We were really fortunate to have found Jody Marshall (HKN) to start our daughters' dance journey when they were 4 and 6 respectively. We started both our daughters at JDMC with their holiday programme. They had great fun and met many good friends along the way. On top of developing a keen appreciation and exposure to the different genres of dances, we also noted our children's development of soft skills such as tenacity, adaptability and teamwork. In my elder daughter's 5 years with JDMC, she was given many opportunities to interact with experienced dancers and had participated in numerous performances and competitions, all of which we valued as opportunities to develop good showmanship and mental resilience.

Grateful
I have been dancing in the Jody Marshall Dance Company since I was 3 years old and I am so grateful for all the memories and friendships I have made here. I am very thankful for all the teachers who helped me become the dancer I am today. I have learnt so much from my teachers and my love for dance just keeps on growing. Aunty Jo has always managed to find amazing and talented teachers to help choreograph our dances, conduct lessons, and workshops. She has provided us with many opportunities to participate in competitions and performances.
Jody Marshall Dance Company has always been my second home and the people there are like family. We all have gone through tough times together and are always there for each other. I cannot express how grateful I am to be dancing in such a loving and passionate environment with such amazing teachers, parents and friends, looking out for one another. JMDC is a safe space for me to be vulnerable and just let out my feelings. I am very grateful for the people at JMDC and for the precious memories we have shared.
