Ninong's Thai Food was founded in 2020 amidst the global Covid-19 pandemic. The story of our restaurant begins with Ninong, the passionate chef behind every delicious dish. Prior to his culinary venture, Ninong was a professional teacher in Thailand for 10 years. Though his career was in education, he had always harbored a deep love for cooking and dreamed of one day owning his own restaurant.

In March 2020, Ninong and his wife traveled to the Philippines for a summer vacation. However, due to the sudden border restrictions imposed by the pandemic, Ninong was unable to return to Thailand to resume his teaching job. With time on his hands, he decided to pursue his passion for cooking and began selling food online. His first dish, Pad Nam Prik Pao, quickly gained attention, attracting customers from the local community, affectionately known as "tambays" in the Philippines. The dish became an instant favorite, and soon after, Ninong introduced other Thai classics such as Pad Kra Pao and Pad Thai.

History

As demand for his food grew, Ninong took the next step and opened a small kiosk in Sta. Rosa, Laguna, catering to pick-up, take-out, and delivery customers. Initially, the kiosk offered just three Thai dishes, but as the business flourished, Thai tea and a wider variety of menu options were added to meet the growing needs of his customers.

By 2021, Ninong's dream of offering a full Thai dining experience became a reality when he expanded into a larger space, allowing guests to enjoy their meals in a cozy dine-in setting while indulging in a flavorful Thai feast.

Now, almost five years later, Ninong's Thai Food continues to serve the community with an expanded menu that includes a variety of appetizers, soups, noodles, main courses, desserts, and drinks. We are proud to share the authentic taste of Thailand with our customers and look forward to continuing to grow and serve delicious, made-from-scratch Thai food for many years to come.

Mastering Thai Flavors: Ninong's Culinary Journey in Bangkok

At Ninong’s Thai Food & Restaurant, authenticity is at the heart of every dish we serve. With over a decade of living and immersing himself in the culture of Thailand, Ninong took his passion for Thai cuisine a step further by formally mastering the art of Thai cooking. He enrolled in a renowned cooking school in Bangkok, where he honed his skills and deepened his understanding of the techniques and flavors that define Thai cuisine.

Ninong’s dedication to authentic recipes has transformed NTFR into more than just a restaurant—it’s a gateway to the true essence of Thai dining. Every dish is a celebration of Thailand’s rich culinary traditions and vibrant flavors.

As NTFR continues to grow, Ninong’s mission remains steadfast: to introduce more authentic Thai dishes that bring the taste of Thailand closer to our community. From timeless classics to unique regional specialties, we are proud to offer a genuine Thai dining experience with every bite.

Ninong's logo prominently features a chili, symbolizing the bold and authentic Thai flavors that define our dishes. Thai cuisine is renowned for its love of spice, with many traditional dishes being generously seasoned with chilies. However, the chili in our logo does not imply that all our food is intensely spicy. We believe in catering to each customer's preferences, offering a range of spice levels from 0% (no spice) to 100%, with options for varying degrees of heat in between. The red color in our logo represents the hot and flavorful essence of Thai cuisine, while also reflecting Ninong's personal favorite color.

The restaurant is called Ninong’s Thai Food Restaurant because the founder is well-known and beloved in his small barangay in Sta. Rosa, Laguna, thanks to his warm and friendly personality. In fact, he has so many godchildren that he has lost count of the exact number. "Ninong," which means godfather in Filipino, has become more than just the founder's nickname—it's a title that many of his customers affectionately use to refer to him.

Ninong has always had a deep passion for cooking, a love that was nurtured by his father at the age of 11. His father didn't just teach him how to cook—he taught him to cook with love and heart. While Ninong grew into a professional teacher, he never abandoned his culinary passion. In 2010, Ninong traveled to Bangkok to teach Thai students, and it was there that he further developed his cooking skills. After his classes, he would learn to prepare various Thai dishes from his colleagues and friends, as well as from street vendors in Bangkok, Saraburi, and Nonthaburi. His love for both Filipino and Thai cuisine grew even stronger, and cooking became a way for him to bring joy to others. What he cherishes most is the satisfaction of seeing the smiles on the faces of those enjoying his dishes.
