Previously, I’ve worked with other contractors and interior designer for other projects (Office & Home) but the whole working experience was very frustrating to say the least. Even though they were supposed to be the Project Manager for the renovation project, oftentimes I found myself having to step up and fill their shoes – else things will go haywire, or the project deadline will be extended indefinitely. Not forgetting to mention all the heart-stopping moments and all the precious time and money wasted… Thankfully, IH Design Lab was NOT one of them. Having gone through several renovation projects myself and hearing different horror stories from my friends, I can safely say IH Design Lab is a REAL GEM in the highly congested renovation industry which is often plagued by many incidences of dodgy practices and unqualified individuals or companies with poor standards and bad service. The moment they received our Project Brief, they already proposed a couple of layout plans for our consideration – and that was even before we’ve even decided and confirmed that we are giving them the project! We can feel their sincerity. (This was unlike some of the other ID firms we spoke to for this project, which came across as ‘pushy’ or ‘salesy’) As this was the first time we were fitting out a commercial unit within the retail mall, we were initially worried. But Mint & Sze were able to guide us every step of the way – to navigate smoothly through the whole process – from submitting the various paperwork to the Mall Management, URA and SCDF - to giving us practical and well-considered advice for partitioning, tiling, electrical works, wallpaper and signage. What I love most is the fact that Mint and Sze are proactive in giving updates to their clients. Throughout the whole project, they kept us in the loop of things via regular phone calls and whatsapp video calls. There was no need for us to chase after them for stuff. They are also pretty hands-on people so we felt reassured knowing that they were at the project site to supervise the independent sub-contractors whenever any major installation work is carried out. From start to finish, the entire renovation process took us only 4 weeks. Even the Mall’s Ops Manager was most impressed with the speed of their execution. Professional, Precise and Prompt – these are the 3 words to sum up our working experience with IH Design Lab. Really thank God that we chanced upon them. Sze , Designer from IH Design left a deep impression in us from the first meeting. She did not try to entice us with offers or promotions to get us to sign a contract. Instead, she took much time and effort to get a thorough understanding of the current state of the property, gauge the project schedule and renovation timeline based on our requirements, and help us to better understand our renovation goals versus what is achievable due to existing HDB renovation guidelines and regulations. Under the recommendation of an old friend, we had engaged Sze as my ID to do up the renovation of my unit .From start till end she had consistently provided me with good advice on important issues such as the choice of material and layout planning etc.She also provide us with 3D drawings to help us to have better visualisation.
