Design Your Jewellery from Scratch

Making custom designed jewellery in Singapore can be overwhelming, but we will guide you along the way. Here’s a little about the personalised jewellery process and what to expect:

Step 1 – Discuss ideas

Bring us your ideas. Don’t know what you want yet? Browse our design stories for inspiration or book a consultation at our Tanglin showroom. We will advise you on style, ring fit, diamond size etc.

Step 2 – The Gemstone

Finding the right diamond or gemstone. We will source a suitable stone based on your requirements. We can source lab-grown and natural diamonds and a wide variety of colour gemstones both large and small.

Step 3 – Sketch the design

Sketching designs based on your ideas. We discuss to understand your requirements and will give you a few options or even different angles depending on the item. We lay the gemstones on the sketch, so that you can see the scale and imagine your ready jewellery piece. Proportions are important, so you can choose the size of diamonds for the band and side stones to be the right proportions for the look you want.

Step 4 – Fitting

We will handcraft your jewellery piece from scratch using traditional master craftsmanship, which will take about 3-4 weeks. Rings and bracelets, and in some cases earrings, will require fitting to make sure that everything fits well.

Step 5 – Collecting Your Jewellery

Following the fitting, we will set the stones, polish and finish your jewellery item and have it ready in a stylish box for you.

Questions you might have before making an appointment

How can I find her ring size?

When engaging our custom jewellery services on behalf of someone else, bring along any rings that fit her well. If she doesn’t have any, you can try to compare her fingers to your own and we will measure you. We have also estimated size through photographs. If you can’t find the right size, we will make sure to design a ring that can be resized to fit.

What’s the best gemstone for an engagement ring?

Choose a diamond or gemstone based on your budget and style. A Round Diamond with a Diamond halo might be a popular choice, but if your partner is a vintage lover, an Emerald Cut Diamond Engagement Ring is more likely to suit her. Or an Art Deco setting with the geometric Asscher cut Diamond. It is also very likely that she would prefer a classic Sapphire or Emerald Engagement Ring, and not a Diamond Ring at all. She will appreciate the effort you are putting into custom designing the engagement ring for her.

Can I bring my own Diamond?

Yes, we design and handcraft rings using your own diamonds and gemstones, whether they are loose or set in existing jewellery. We also do resetting and redesign of Diamonds and gemstones from your old or inherited jewellery.

Is custom jewellery affordable in Singapore?

Yes, we can work to your budget. You can choose from Sterling Silver, 18K Rose, Yellow, white or Original white gold and Platinum. We source stones and will suggest a suitable choice to your budget. We work with lab-grown Diamonds, natural mined diamonds and colour gemstones such as Sapphire, Ruby, Emerald, Tourmaline, Spinel or Tanzanite, to name a few.

Just like a white shirt can be very cheap in a shop – you will need to pay more if you want a bespoke dress or suit, but you will get the right fit and an item that you will love and wear for a long time. Designing your own ring or jewellery won’t be the cheapest option, but it can be affordable and it’s so rewarding wearing a personalized piece of jewellery.

Can I come in for a face-to-face consultation?

Of course! Make an appointment to see us at our Tanglin showroom and we will advise you on design, gemstones and wearability.

Do wedding rings need to match?

Wedding rings should reflect your personality, and they don’t necessarily need to match your partner’s. However, many of our customers prefer “matching rather than identical” wedding rings—pieces that share a similar style or design element, while still offering a unique look for each individual.

Will you show me a 3D rendering of the design?

We do classical jewellery design, so we will sketch your item with pencil and paper in as many views as required. Your design is then handcrafted using traditional techniques so that you get a beautiful and durable piece of bespoke jewellery.

How long does it take to have a piece of custom jewellery made?

Each item is handcrafted from scratch, so standard timing is around 4 weeks, but we can usually speed things up if required. Contact us if you need something made more urgently.
