Celebrating Women in Construction
for International Women’s Day
At Chye Joo Construction, we are proud to have remarkable women leading the way, proving that talent, resilience, and expertise know no gender. We sat down with some of our incredible female colleagues to hear their stories to understand how they’ve navigated challenges, broken barriers, and made an impact in the construction industry.
TO ALL WOMEN IN CONSTRUTION:
"Don’t let negative feedback or complaints affect you personally. As a PR officer, we encounter various feedback every day, and some experiences can be tough—especially for women, as we tend to take others' attitudes and tones to heart. Instead of focusing on the negativity, focus on finding solutions. The key is not letting emotions dictate your actions, but staying professional and seeking support from your team when needed. Never stop learning and growing. Our roles may not always be technical, but our ability to understand, communicate, and navigate the complexities of this industry is powerful. Every day, we contribute to the success of projects by providing clear communication, resolving challenges, and building strong relationships. Don’t let anyone underestimate your impact."

TO ALL WOMEN IN CONSTRUTION:
"The construction industry is a place where women can truly thrive. If you’re passionate about this field, don’t hesitate to step forward. Don’t let challenges or circumstances define you. No matter what you face, remember that your journey is yours to create. I know balancing family and work can be tough, but let your passion lead the way."

TO ALL WOMEN IN CONSTRUTION:
"Don’t let fear hold you back. In a male-dominated environment, it’s easy to feel intimidated or hesitant at the start of our career. I still remember being the only woman in a coordination meeting. I was nervous at first, but I knew my role was to share important information to keep things running smoothly on-site. Over time, I adapted to the environment, and my fear and shyness no longer hindered my performance. Be brave and go after your dreams. If you put your heart and effort into it, I truly believe your dreams will come true. Let’s support each other, just like sisters, and work together to make this industry more inclusive and empowering for women."

TO ALL WOMEN IN CONSTRUTION:
"Never view yourself as INSIGNIFICANT in this industry, and never let self-doubt diminish your potential. There is no difference in ability between male and female engineers. We all bring the same expertise, knowledge, and skill to the table. Never forget that we face the same obstacles, and we all have the ability to thrive. I care deeply for the women in this industry. As women, we may not always have the same physical strength as men, and some of the physically demanding tasks can drain our energy. I also understand that we want to look our best, but remember that each job offers unique results and experiences. If you are passionate about this industry and find fulfillment in your work, keep pushing on. You're doing something you love, and that’s what matters most!"

TO ALL WOMEN IN CONSTRUTION:
"Never feel like you are in the wrong industry. I understand that the job can be demanding, especially when balancing family responsibilities, but remember, your contributions are just as valuable as anyone else’s. Women play a vital role in the industry, and we see women leading in important positions, such as contract managers and directors. You are not at a disadvantage. Your role is crucial to the built environment and don’t be discouraged by any obstacles you face. There are many women succeeding and thriving in this industry, and you are capable of doing the same."
