Play & Education
Play is the highest form of research - Albert Einstein
Do you know what a world without play would be like? Can you imagine a life without play - no humour, no fun, no creativity, no movies, no music, no innovation, no sports, no entertainment, no imagination nor fantasy, etc.? Try to imagine our life and this world without play.
The truth is, it is in our very nature to play. Though as we grow up, most of us abandon play and regard it as a frivolous, childish thing to do. We even consider it as a complete waste of time.
Play is our brain’s favourite way of learning - Diane Ackerman
Humans are designed and created to play through our whole lifetime.
Play is not merely essential but is the very fundamental tool for a child’s development and healthy brain growth especially in early childhood years. Adult play in all its rich myriad of ways is vital for our human survival, health, success and joyful living.
Removing play from life’s equation whether in a child or an adult’s life, is a certain cause for us heading into the realms of unhealthy childhood development and growth that will affect us all the way into our adulthood.
Play is often talked about as if it were a relief from serious learning. But for children, play is serious learning. Play is really the work of childhood.
— Fred Rogers
