Established in 1981, the CCNY Division of Interdisciplinary Studies at the Center for Worker Education (hereinafter CCNY CWE) has been providing high-quality college education to working adults in New York City and the surrounding regions. Our programs are specifically designed for students whose access to higher education has been limited or interrupted. We offer a range of Class Delivery Methods, including In-Person,Online Synchronous, Hybrid Asynchronous,Online Mix, and Online Asynchronous, enabling our students to complete their education and achieve true social mobility.

Our B.A. Interdisciplinary Arts and Sciences is a versatile program tailored for working adults and transfer students, seamlessly blending classroom learning with real-world relevance. Offered in both in-person and online formats, our curriculum is meticulously crafted to empower students by integrating academic knowledge with practical applications, preparing them for success in the workplace and beyond.
B.A. Social Justice and Urban Life
NEW B.A. Program
The new B.A. in Social Justice and Urban Life goes beyond textbooks, offering students real-life learning experiences and providing an interdisciplinary framework for analyzing social justice issues and inequalities within urban communities. Students will embark on a journey that blends coursework, experiential learning, and public lectures, culminating in a capstone project.
B.S. Early Childhood Education
Leads to NYS Initial Teacher Certification
Our B.S. in Early Childhood Education Program emphasizes how diversity-related issues can effectively support student learning and have a positive impact on schools, especially in urban settings. As part of the School of Education, we recommend our graduate students for New York State Initial Teacher Certification in Early Childhood (Birth-Grade 2), and hold accreditation by CAEP.
M.A. Instructional Design
NEW Fully Online Asynchronous |Launching in Fall 2026
The M.A. in Instructional Design program prepares graduates to create, implement, and evaluate effective learning experiences across educational, corporate, and nonprofit settings. Students gain expertise in educational theory, evidence-based decision making, innovative technologies, assessment, research methodology, problem solving, and professional communication. The program culminates in an 8-credit capstone project, where students develop a professional Instructional Design portfolio showcasing their competencies to prospective employers. Designed for working professionals, the curriculum combines practical preparation for immediate career entry with a strong foundation for doctoral study.
M.A. International & Transcultural Education
NEW Fully Online Asynchronous |Launching in Fall 2026
The M.A. in International and Transcultural Education prepares students to address today’s global educational challenges. This program offers the flexibility to study from anywhere—ideal for working professionals and international students. The curriculum develops skills in leadership, research, policy, program management, and fundraising, combining theoretical knowledge with practical application. Students gain real-world experience through internships, partnerships, and an applied thesis project, all guided by distinguished faculty. Graduates are equipped for careers in education administration, NGOs, government, multinational organizations.
M.A. Study of The Americas
In Person and Online
Our M.A. in the Study of the Americas offers diverse interdisciplinary perspectives, covering areas such as literature, anthropology, history, philosophy, urban studies, cultural studies, film, and political science. Topics include race, gender, human rights, contemporary politics, immigration, and popular culture. With a wide range of courses available, students gain a comprehensive understanding of the region.
