Small Group Tuition Classes

Mr Jack Wang is an NUS engineering graduate majoring in Material Science.

Mr Wang has been tutoring since 2008, developing the Happy Tutors’ Method of Teaching. He specialises in O Level Physics & Chemistry as well as A Level Physics and is dedicated to constantly improving the learning experience of all the students at Happy Tutors.

My son spent only 3-4 months tuition at this Happy tuitor center about Maths. In the end, he passed the MOE test for local school. And my son love to learn in the center. The teachers are very kind to him.

I am Kahveari and I started tuition with Kornelius to prepare for my O-levels this year. It was a good experience. He is friendly and understanding. When we are tired after school, he tends not to pressure us that much compared to other teachers. In his classes, I learnt communications and how to answer some of the questions in my work. The techniques he taught for Paper 1 are useful and he taught us how to do planning properly and to think and to expand our ideas more.

My overall experience with Kornelius has been enjoyable. I feel happy and appreciative as his student. He is an engaging and responsible tutor. He makes sure each and every student is on the same page in terms of teaching and makes sure no one is left stranded with questions. He engages me, when I feel bored in his class, with jokes and different examples from my daily life (e.g. movies, shows and games) to make learning fun and interesting. He is a unique tutor that goes the extra mile to improve his students to become learners and people with good qualities. I feel that Kornelius puts his students as a priority as he is a caring and wholesome tutor. He would occasionally check in on me to make sure I don't lag behind in class or if I am going through sadness I may feel in my life. He would offer ideas and methods to counter those problems unlike other tutors I have encountered. On an interpersonal level, I find interacting with him is fun and relaxing. Kornelius will occasionally post memes on the tuition WhatsApp group to brighten our mood and relieve some tension our lives. Whenever I have a question about life or English, he will try his best to help me find the answer.I have benefited from Kornelius' class in my academic performances. He has helped me advance from Normal Academic English to Express English. My English hasn't been the best since the start of Secondary 1, but ever since I took lessons from him, my English has improved dramatically and I find it easier to take exams by using Kornelius' methods and tips. Some aspects of Kornelius' lessons that stand out to me are that it is interesting and relaxing. He has managed to engage the class in a unique manner such as 'breaking down the questions' and 'using live examples to make learning relatable'. The more useful techniques taught in Situational Writing helped me a lot. Kornelius taught me how to break down the paragraph and text into easier words and ideas to increase efficiency and reduce time wasted on reading the text. This helped me to avoid careless mistakes and unnecessary loss of marks just because I misunderstood the question or text. These have really benefited me in my learning as I find Express English extremely difficult with the many long words and phrases that my school teachers don't teach but expect us students to know the meaning of. Kornelius doesn't give too much homework and gives an extra week of homework extension if I fail to complete the homework. This benefits me as a student as I find that school gives too much homework and Kornelius giving less homework makes my student life more bearable.

I've been Kornelius' student for slightly over a year. Kornelius is a passionate tutor and will try his very best to help his students take a grasp of the key concepts. He is more carefree and will at times go out of syllables to make the lessons more fun. He focuses a lot on Compo writing. I get more practice and learn how to break down my key ideas into different paragraphs. I am now able to write on topic.

Me, Kornelius’ student from 2016 - 2020. I found his lessons fun and effective and Kornelius was a kind and friendly tutor. One of the things that set him apart from other tutors was that he shared a lot of his life experiences during break time, which I found very interesting. As a whole, I had a good experience in his class and I noticed an improvement in how I tackled my comprehension passages. Even with the more difficult passages, where I had difficulty understanding what the entire passage was about, I was still able to tackle the questions using his techniques because I could break down the questions and use the keywords to find the answer. His techniques for analysing compo questions, brainstorming and writing different types of details and understanding essay structure were especially helpful because I knew what were the key components I needed to answer them.

My 𝚘𝚟𝚎𝚛𝚊𝚕𝚕 𝚎𝚡𝚙𝚎𝚛𝚒𝚎𝚗𝚌𝚎 𝚠𝚒𝚝𝚑 𝙼𝚛 Kornelius was a lot 𝚘𝚏 𝚏𝚞𝚗 𝚊𝚗𝚍 I learnt 𝚊 𝚕𝚘𝚝 𝚘𝚏 𝚗𝚎𝚠 𝚝𝚑𝚒𝚗𝚐𝚜 𝚏𝚛𝚘𝚖 𝚑𝚒𝚜 𝚝𝚞𝚒𝚝𝚒𝚘𝚗 lessons. As a student, I felt that his style of teaching was great and a lot of fun. 𝙼𝚛 K𝚘𝚛𝚗𝚎𝚕𝚒𝚞𝚜 is 𝚊 𝚐𝚘𝚘𝚍 𝚝𝚞𝚒𝚝𝚒𝚘𝚗 𝚝𝚎𝚊𝚌𝚑𝚎𝚛 and he is always concerned about how my classmates and I are doing in school, and our wellbeing. I found that h𝚒𝚜 𝚕𝚎𝚜𝚜𝚘𝚗𝚜 𝚠𝚎𝚛𝚎 𝚠𝚊𝚢 𝚍𝚒𝚏𝚏𝚎𝚛𝚎𝚗𝚝 𝚏𝚛𝚘𝚖 𝚘𝚝𝚑𝚎𝚛 𝚝𝚞𝚒𝚝𝚒𝚘𝚗 𝚝𝚎𝚊𝚌𝚑𝚎𝚛𝚜 because he always 𝚙𝚕𝚊𝚗𝚗𝚎𝚍 𝚊 𝚟𝚎𝚛𝚢 𝚏𝚞𝚗 𝚕𝚎𝚜𝚜𝚘𝚗 𝚎𝚟𝚎𝚛𝚢𝚍𝚊𝚢. O𝚝𝚑𝚎𝚛 𝚝𝚎𝚊𝚌𝚑𝚎𝚛𝚜 𝚠𝚘𝚞𝚕𝚍 𝚓𝚞𝚜𝚝 𝚐𝚒𝚟𝚎 𝚞s 𝚠𝚘𝚛𝚔 to do, 𝚊𝚗𝚍 𝚖𝚊𝚔𝚎 𝚞s 𝚍𝚘 it, 𝚝𝚑𝚎𝚗 𝚖𝚊𝚛𝚔 𝚒𝚝. His explanations for his lessons were always very clear and detailed and the techniques that he taught were easy to understand and use. By using them and applying them in my schoolwork, I was able to understand how to answer them better and more quickly. 𝙸 𝚋𝚎𝚗𝚎𝚏𝚒𝚝𝚎𝚍 𝚊 𝚕𝚘𝚝 𝚍𝚞𝚛𝚒𝚗𝚐 𝚑𝚒𝚜 𝚕𝚎𝚜𝚜𝚘𝚗s, 𝚖𝚢 𝚐𝚛𝚊𝚍𝚎𝚜 𝚒𝚖𝚙𝚛𝚘𝚟𝚎𝚍 𝚏𝚛𝚘𝚖 𝙲 𝚝𝚘 𝙱+. I had to stop lessons with him for a while during the Circuit Breaker period but I’m looking forward to improving in my grades further with him for secondary school.

HappyTutors had provided extensive help to me throughout my JC years in preparation for As! Other than their convenient neighbourhood location, I appreciated their flexibility in lesson arrangement. Recommended for all, especially those in need of help for national exams!!

First of all, instead of having lessons as a big class, the centre conduct lessons in small groups, catering to the needs of every student. Secondly, the teachers there are also very supportive and experienced. They are very willing to help out with school questions, and make the effort to collect interesting questions to share with students, exposing us to more question types. Not only that, the centre also organise field trips during school holidays which create chances for students to interact. Overall happy tutor learning centre creates an interactive and conducive learning environment for students.

Has a cool teacher which serves as a mentor aside from academical content alone. Willing to accomodate my rigid schedule, as well as satisfy whatever curiosities I may harbor outside of syllabus as well. Teaches tips and tricks which help for revision and pushes hard in preparation. Highly recommend!
