Meet Teacher Evelyn Yuanhui Chen, the heart and soul behind
Stories By Children!
Evelyn is on a mission to "offer a listening for all voices," and she wholeheartedly believes in empowering children through the gift of storytelling. Guided by her faith in the Lord and a passion for compassionate listening, she helps young writers express themselves and shine in their true potential.
With 20 years of diverse experience in teaching, educational research, and management, Evelyn has worked in various settings, including the Ministry of Education (MOE) headquarters, schools, the National Institute of Education (NIE), private education centers, and preschools. Her extensive background means she knows what it takes to nurture young minds.
Evelyn's qualifications are impressive! She holds a Master of Education from Harvard University, a Post Graduate Diploma in Education from NIE, a Bachelor of Arts from the National University of Singapore (NUS), and a Diploma in Counselling Psychology from CAE. Plus, she has received training in Art Therapy, Play Therapy, Montessori, and Reggio Emilia pedagogies—making her a well-rounded educator.
Her leadership has led her team at MOE to achieve the "National Arts Education (Blaze Award)," and her team at NIE won the "NIE Innovation Commendation Award.” She’s also celebrated as a two-time recipient of the "MOE Outstanding Contribution Award."
But perhaps her greatest pride is seeing her young writers succeed; under her guidance, two of them have earned Silver and Bronze Awards at the renowned Queen's Commonwealth Essay Competition.
Evelyn’s dedication shines through in everything she does, and she’s ready to help the next generation of storytellers find their voice!
