We bid farewell today to @kaldilevko with a heavy heart. At the same time, our hearts are overflowing with gratitude for the help he has extended to us for the past two months. Levente took time off work, travelled all the way from Hungary to help with our opening. He has contributed immensely in the research and development process for the menu, lending us his sharp mind, wit, and palate as well as fresh perspective as a non-Malaysian. We will deeply miss his humorous presence in the kitchen in the days to come.


We wish him all the best and a stellar future ahead.

Image 6: 拉丁文里“眼”的意思,Oculus,在古希腊神话里意指万神庙里接轨天与地的洞眼。Terra Dining @terradining.kl 的主厨,张佑丞 @hungry_goat 想出了一个别具一格的团建活动—在荣获建筑设计奖无数的多功能6层楼别墅,“天地之眼”里主办一个烹饪活动。食材方面,便完全采用屋里摘取收获的鱼和蔬菜,就地取材式的做出丰富的菜色。“天地之眼”屋主Captain Sim @yw_sim ,花了近十年才建造完成的梦想居家。 “Oculus”means “eye” in Latin, where it refers to the opening of the pantheon in Greek mythology. At an award-winning 6-storey multipurpose house, the Oculus House, therein lies Terra Dining’s Chef YC Chong’s idea to organise a unique team building event cook-up. The team building event used all ingredients harvested within the house - the fish and vegetables, to cook. Owner of the Oculus House, Captain Sim, has spent almost 10 years to perfect his idea of a dream house.


Image 7: Terra Dining x The Oculus House ✨When Chef YC of @terradining.kl invited us to join their team-building dinner at the stunning six-storey Oculus House in Seputeh Heights designed by Wooi Architect @wooilokkuang — we said yes in a heartbeat! The team prepared the dinner using ingredients straight from the house’s 1.2 m-deep fish swim pond — home to around 200 fishes! (Yes, it doubles as a swimming pool!) Plus, fresh produce from the hydroponic and urban farms on-site. On the menu: Jade Perch, Tenggalan, Patin Buah, and even chicken raised at the house itself. Truly farm-to-table. Oculus House is a dream 10 years in the making, built by owner Captain Sim, a former pilot and underwater photographer. Designed with nature at its heart, the house embraces natural ventilation, daylight, and the lush beauty of the neighbouring forest reserve. At its center, a gallery —the ‘oculus’—serves as a breathtaking exhibition space for Captain Sim’s travel photography. Sustainability runs through every detail, with the home naturally ventilated and flooded with natural light. And the living and dining spaces that open right out to nature? Simply awe-inspiring. 🌿 A stunning example of biophilic design — where architecture and nature coexist in perfect harmony. Thank you, Terra Dining and Captain Sim, for an incredible experience!

Self-taught chef-owner Chong Yu Cheng showcases creative dishes like squid noodles confit with a “laksabayon”, a sabayon made from Terengganu white laksa flavours and housemade lemongrass vinegar. For Terra Dining, receiving two awards last night, the Tatler Best 20 Restaurants and Best New Restaurant, is an immense honour. We have many people to thank, not just for the awards but for the love, faith, support, and camaraderie that we have been showered with since the beginning. To begin, we would like to thank Tatler Dining for the awards and recognition of our work, and beyond that the constant support that you have given to the dining and hospitality industry. I cannot thank the team at Terra enough, both front and back of house, who have worked tirelessly to deliver a good dining experience day in day out. We are far from perfect. Perhaps we will never be, but I have complete faith that in our perpetual endeavour to refine our food and mode of hospitality, we will get closer and closer to our ideals. A big shoutout to our customers, who have shown so much love and acceptance for our expression of Malaysian cuisine. Without you, we would just be performers without an audience. We would like to show our appreciation for our suppliers, who have worked closely with us and given us the raw material to materialise our ideas. Our beverage suppliers definitely deserve special mention not only for their work and expertise but also the bond of friendship that has developed over many glasses and cups. Last but not least, the hospitality industry and all its hard working folk, who have been nothing but gracious and welcoming to newcomers like us.
