I had an S grade before Ahive. My final A Level grade was an A. Mr Lye helped me internalise & process the mechanisms behind organic chemistry reactions, and why they worked. My biggest takeaway was that organic chemistry was really not that difficult, as all I needed do was apply my fundamentals. I would recommend AA to others

I was overwhelmed by the amount and complexity of the content at first, however after I joined Mr Lye was able to highlight the key points accurately which lowered my burden. Before joining Ahive Academy(AA), my chemistry wasn't that strong. However, the lessons were very detailed, and Mr. Lye was a very patient teacher who always explained all the concepts clearly. Being at Ahive Academy not only helped me improve my chemistry but also made me genuinely enjoy the subject. ahive is a really amazing tuition centre that specialises in chemistry. before joining ahive, i was always confused and did not understand many chem concepts because i felt they did not add up, and the terminologies were too complex for my pea sized brain, but with Mr Lye's guidance, i managed to improve by 4 grades from JC1 promos to A Levels.
Mr Lye uses analogies to illustrate chemistry concepts to help us understand them better and coming from someone who does not believe in blindly memorising content, this approach was very helpful
I would really recommend Ahive to anyone who struggles with Chemistry because the way the content is taught is not only very helpful for exam preparation, but also helps one to be able to develop a slight (or maybe greater) appreciation for the subject matter

Before I join AA, my grade for H2 chem was an E for my Mid-year exams. However, with many practice worksheets that Mr lye gave, i was able to have sufficient practice on the various questions. Moreover, I was also able to clarify my doubts during the consultations that I had with Mr Lye, which led me to have a better understanding on the concepts. Most importantly, the summaries that he collated for every chapter were also very helpful for quick revisions just before the exam. In the end, I was able to get a B grade during A levels, which I felt happy with. With all that being said, I would defnitiely recommend AA to others!

I struggled to understand the concepts being taught by teachers in school due to the fast-paced nature of schools lecture and tutorial. Previously my grade in j1 mid years was a D. Since then, with additional resources and dedicated teaching by Ahive academy, I'm proud to achieve an A for A levels chemistry
J2 topics were a lot more demanding and requires more effort in memorising. Ahive academy provided resources that are vastly different from school. Although the content still remains... The notes are extremely concise to allow us to understand the fundamentals well and know exactly where to pay attention to. Ahive academy also paces their students such that there are different tiers of question for students of varying ability. Mr lye is always the encouraging figure pushing us to challenge ourselves with the more difficult questions so as to gain a deeper understanding of the particular topic.
I would definitely recommend Ahive academy to others. Trust the teacher there and with hard work, scoring well for As wouldn't seem like an distant dream.

I could barely understand chemistry in secondary school and always got around E8. I decided to start tuition here from the beginning of jc in hopes of doing better and I got an A for Alvls!!! Prior to joining Ahive, I was averaging E and S grades for H2 chemistry and struggled to grasp the concept of many topics.

About Mr Max Lye
Mr Max Lye is a former MOE Head of Curriculum and Subject Head of Student Leadership who has years of rich experience teaching at junior colleges, independent and mainstream secondary schools. He previously served as the eduLab Manager at MOE HQ, conducting and coordinating pedagogy training for hundreds of teacher leaders and teachers at the Academy of Singapore Teachers.
A former top PSLE student from Raffles Institution, Mr Lye graduated from Imperial College London with 1st class honours in Chemistry under the prestigious Overseas Teaching Scholarship and was appointed as an Associate of the Royal College of Science.
In the education arena, he has won numerous awards for excellence in teaching and learning; Prime Minister’s Book Prize, Best Practice Award, Best Contribution Award, just to name a few.
With his stellar academic achievement and top teaching track record, Mr Lye founded Ahive Academy which is often featured in the media for its lesson methodology and practices.
