WHY WE STAND OUT

8 Core Competencies

At The Grange International School in Singapore, we offer a forward-thinking international primary education that nurtures both academic growth and global awareness. As a private primary school in Singapore, our unique approach is built around eight core competencies—design thinking, environmental stewardship, entrepreneurship, active citizenry, teamwork, partnerships, critical issue recognition, and service leadership. These elements are woven into the learning experience to help children develop the mindset, values, and skills needed to navigate an increasingly complex world with confidence and purpose.

Construction & Design

Creators possess the skills to conceptualise an idea and to apply the design process to construct a product. They learn to examine and critique their draft work before making refinements when working towards an original or improved final product.

Respecting The Environment

Creators develop the important understanding that we need to maintain a healthy, balanced and interdependent relationship with our natural and man-made environment. They learn to implement sustainable practices to care for, respect and protect the environment we interact with.

Entrepreneurial Spirit

Creators are individuals who can identify a niche, conceptualise, market and deliver an idea, a product or a cause to their target audience. They learn to use a combination of textual, visual, auditory tools and media, coupled with technology, to sell their ideas and products in a creative manner.

Active Citizenship

Creators see themselves as active global citizens who have a shared agency of our planet. They are passionate about their responsibilities to improve life on Earth. They are advocates of the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and know that their actions can be personal, localised or far-reaching.

Teamwork & Partnerships

Creators embrace collaboration and partnership as an effective and efficient way to solving a problem. They understand that others’ strengths can complement or supplement their own. They are willing to adopt different roles in a team as the success of the mission outweighs individual accolade.

Original Ideas

Creators challenge their own thinking to come up with new and original ideas that, in turn, challenges others’ thinking and their mindsets. They are able to approach existing issues and situations with alternative viewpoints, in the hope to come up with original ideas, or to better existing ideas.

Recognising Issues

Creators gain knowledge and awareness by researching into common issues affecting humanity on a personal, community or global basis through a balance of primary and secondary sources of information, and in the process, they might change their mindset and perspective about the issue.

Service Leadership

Creators are true leaders who are selfless about taking meaningful actions to impact others and the environment. They are active in the school, local community and beyond and are willing to devote time and energy to community causes that they become passionate about.

TESTIMONIALS

Words From Our Student’s Parents

The unique “family” atmosphere at The Grange is something we appreciate very much. Moving to a new country has, at times, made us feel lost and frustrated as parents, however, The Grange team has been so kind to talk to us, listen to our concerns and share their insights with us. Their care and sincere support has really helped not just our children but has been extended to even the parents! This is really a family school and we will remember the special efforts of the school for years to come!

Patrick & Helen Lau

Parents of Brandon & Elvin, Year 1A & 1B

This was our first experience in an international school outside our home country. Upon arrival, our child had limited English proficiency. During this time, the teachers and school staff provided immense support and helped her adapt to the school environment smoothly.

We are very pleased with our experience at Grange Institution. The teachers and staff are exceptionally kind and understanding, always supporting the children and creating a comfortable atmosphere for them.

Our daughter enjoyed going to school every day, made many new friends, and felt like a part of a close-knit community.

We especially want to highlight the cozy and heartfelt atmosphere of the school, which not only helps children learn but also supports their personal growth. We are grateful to the school for a wonderful year and the positive impact it has had on our daughter.

A heartfelt thank you to all the teachers and staff for their dedication and hard work!

Svetlana Argunova

Parent of Sainaara Argunova, Year 1

The Cambridge Primary Curriculum subjects Mathematics, Science and English are taught in creative ways that enable the students to gain interest and eventually apply the knowledge they learned. The IPC curriculum takes the kids on a learning journey through the different themes in the Units of Learning using fun and interactive activities about the world around them.  Every dinner is an exciting discussion about their day in school including chocolates, inventors, fossils and the Dalai Lama!

Paulo and Christina Gonzales

Parents of Joaquin & Ysabela, Year 3 & 1A

We thank you about being so passionate about teaching young children. Under your guidance, our child has developed well and we are happy.

Areena & Deepesh

Parents of Evaara, Year 1

We cannot express enough thanks to all the teachers at the Grange for supporting our child with extra kindness and care. It is hard to imagine how much effort and patience are required during these difficult times. Thank you so much for being there for our son.

Akito Hattori

Father of Sohya Hattori, Year 2

Teachers are one of the most important people in our lives. Our family is so glad that my daughter has met the most wonderful teachers at The Grange. Thank you so much your wisdom, kindness, and all the sweet moments created with our child. You are awesome and amazing!

Zin Wai Phyo

Mother of Phyo Nathar Cho, Year 1 student

The Additional English Language teacher conducts her classes to suit six-year-old Ayako’s pace of learning using engaging methods. The small class size also helps build her confidence in the language. Ayako can now speak confidently in English and we’re very satisfied with her progress! Friends always share that their child’s English language classes at school cost extra, but not at The Grange.
