LEO RUI YAN, REANNE

FOUNDER & LEAD INSTRUCTOR

Reanne Leo, an accomplished athlete with a notable presence as a medalist in the SEA Games, possesses distinguished qualifications as an International and National Wushu Judge. This accreditation is conferred by both the International Wushu Federation and the Singapore National Wushu Federation.

As a certified PA coach registered under the People's Association and an accredited NCAP coach, Rui Yan boasts an impressive track record of over 15 years in wushu sports coaching. Her expertise spans a range of disciplines, with a focus on Chang Quan, Nan Quan at various levels, and Tai Chi.

​

Having represented Singapore on the international stage as a member of the Singapore National Team from 1996 to 2003, Reanne Leo earned numerous medals and accolades in both International and National competitions. With a lifelong dedication to the art, she initiated her journey in wushu at the age of 5 and accumulated decades of experience as a prominent figure in the National Team.

Drawing from her extensive background, Reanne excels in nurturing young talents and imparts her knowledge to aspiring athletes. In her initial years as a coach, her students achieved commendable results, securing top-three positions in various Inter-School and National Wushu Championship competitions.

Reanne's profound commitment and passion for the sport have led her to mentor hundreds of students, a significant number of whom have gone on to be selected for the Singapore National Team and Youth Team.

​

Acknowledging the pivotal role played by her parents, Reanne attributes her successes to their support. Throughout her teaching career, she places a consistent emphasis on core values, instilling principles of Respect, Integrity, Responsibility, and Sportsmanship. Her dedication to these values has served as a source of inspiration for many individuals under her guidance.

Benette, a distinguished certified NROC coach and national medalist, made a triumphant mark by securing the 1st position in D-Division Nan Quan at the 9th World Kungfu Championships in China 2023. His portfolio extends beyond personal achievements, encompassing significant tutelage success with his students achieving podium finishes in both the National School Games (NSG) and the National Wushu Championships.

​

Drawing from a wealth of athletic experiences that encompass both successes and disappointments, Benette has developed a profound understanding of the challenges his students encounter during their training journeys. This insight enables him to deploy effective pedagogical strategies to guide his students through overcoming difficulties and achieving their goals.

​

At the core of Benette's coaching philosophy is the belief in challenging students to surpass their own limits and develop the skills necessary to navigate through training obstacles. Resilience, discipline, and problem-solving are fundamental tenets embedded in Benette's training program and methodology, ensuring a holistic approach to athlete development.

​

Incorporating the traditional values of Wushu, known as 武德, Benette emphasizes and imparts values such as respect, compassion, conscientiousness, filial piety, wisdom, and courage. These values serve as the bedrock of his coaching philosophy, shaping not only the athletic prowess of his students but also their character development.

Benette's primary objective is to cultivate successful athletes who transcend the boundaries of the sport, emerging as exemplary individuals. Central to this vision is instilling the values of humility, discipline, and respect in his students, ensuring that they become not only accomplished athletes but also admirable individuals who embody the essence of Wushu.
