“I started learning jazz piano with Danny for 2 years. Though he keeps it flexible and yet the techniques being taught are structured so that it is easier to apply them. He is patient and professional.
I am a working adult and won’t get much time to practise and I don’t revise my notes. But he would repeat the concept if I forget without making me feel like a bad student. I learnt many interesting techniques from him: eg different chord progressions (Major and minor 2-5-1, etc), re-harm, voicing, rootless voicing, improvisation, walking bass, strides, different types of endings, etc.
He has a wide repertoire of knowledge and sometimes we switch from jazz to pop music or Hillsong or Mando-pop if I want to. He also trained up my listening skills. I find it easier to pick out the chords from songs through listening without the lead sheet now compared to when I first started.
